This second installment obviously features a few tracks originally intended for Diamonds From The Rough, as well as pairs omitted from Deep Dish Delicacies, Metamorphic Malfunktions and Glucose For Comfort. Plus, another one from my ongoing / unpublished southern soul project, and it opens with a modern soul classic from my own recently redux'd Otis Clay discography. Hope ya's dig it!

***NEW ANTHOLOGY***
Over the past decade I've developed quite the specific and methodical processes for putting compilations together. Some apparent, others not so much. I'll spare most of the details but something every one of them has in common, is that I collect more songs than I can cram on to each. Songs are cut... every damn time! Track count and time constraints often dictates that the longer songs get axed first. Several years ago when I was churning out considerably more than I do these days, I decided to start setting these lengthy discarded tracks aside. The majority of my mainstay anthologies are genre and/or era specific ~ this new "long-gestating" project is not. The theme is simply long songs (6min+) and it will siphon from this growing pool, featuring material originally intended for any number of anthologies, including some unpublished and still in the works. Now that said, while this one will offer a more eclectic sound don't go expecting spiritual jazz meanderers, disco plod-a-longs or extended DJ remixes, I'm still all about the ballads for the most part. I'm also about alliteration, general word play and food. So, Frankfurters, Footlongs & Fruit Roll-Ups hits all the targets. 

 

This inaugural edition gathers cuts initially destined for Deep Dish Delicacies, Diamonds From The Rough, Glucose For Comfort, Warheads, Brain Blasters & Sour Keys, Metamorphic Malfunktions, as well as an unpublished/incomplete Southern Soul anthology and a Gospel project I put together for a friend last year. There will be more servings of this series coming, so as always, hope ya's dig it!

Now if you've been visiting this site for some time then you know the deal. I like to kick off each year with fresh New Recipes, offering a smorgasbord of soul flavored treats released the year prior. In fact, all but a small handful of the tracks featured here have just been released within the last six months, with several serving as promo cuts for albums that have yet to even hit the shelves. This one is a robust three-course spread so you may wanna pace yourself as there is quite a bit of yummy stuff to digest.
