Headed into 2024 I planned to scale back on the New Recipes series, limiting it to just two two-parters -- one in summer for material released late 2023 to mid 2024, and one in winter mostly for material released later in the year -- however, the timing of the New Recipes Specials back in July made it seem like a little overkill. I meant to post the first one soon after, in early autumn but let myself get carried away with the chronological Deep Dish Delicacies Specials instead. Deep Dish Delicacies Vol. 57 {New Recipes Special}

 

The next 'special' deep dish installment is another double dose of what qualifies as the deep soul of today. An integral element of the New Recipes series, alongside other styles of new soul, funk and rhythm n blues. Now, I'll be the first to admit that the majority of this music is a far cry from the traditional soul productions of yesteryear, however, there's some decent material here that shouldn't go unnoticed. 

New Recipes has now run twenty volumes deep -- it features music recorded and released between late 2016 and late 2023 -- and has unexpectedly become an increasingly popular series. Here we have some more of the best so-called "deep" of it, showcasing new artists and classic soul icons alike. In effort to keep it fresh, each part below contains a few tracks that for one reason or another, never made the initial cut but were released within the same time frame. New Recipes Volume 10

As I mentioned with the previous installment of New Recipes, it's looking like a good year for retro soul and funk releases ... and frankly, it already has been and we're not even halfway through. So a little ahead of schedule comes our second installment so far this year, and it's super-sized just for this special occasion. Volume 10 feels fairly milestone-ish for a series that I initially thought might not even find an audience here. New Recipes however, is among the most downloaded of all our anthologies actually. Also the near entirety of (if not all) the music contained in this double-decker edition, was composed, recorded and released during this daunting and sprawling pandemic.
