Here's the first installment of a new and limited series ... a Glucose For Comfort special feature.
Where as the GFC series features predominantly lowrider and sweet soul styles, I sometimes stretch those boundaries as the real common thread of the anthology is its subject matter; all the songs are sappy, happy, light-hearted and relatively wholesome portraits of love. Warheads, Brain Blasters & Sour Keys is the other side of that canvas. Rife with the haunting harmonies, string laden arrangements, gentle organ grinding and pleading horns essential to the lowrider/sweet soul sound, though these songs paint an entirely different picture of love. Frayed, betrayed, shattered, tattered, torn, scorned, forbidden, lost and unrequited love are all on the menu here. Simply put ... this is heartbreak soul.
