BLOG UPDATE // Glucose For Comfort Vol. 15

Got news ... a little from column A, more from column B, though it's all a matter of perspective I suppose.

On occasion I will continue to share installments from most of the Groovy Gumbo staple anthologies. Further additions of O-O-O-O-Oh Yeah!!! and the Songbook Series however, will no longer be featured here. I will also be moving away from weekly posts and closer to something resembling monthly.

I've decided to return my time and focus towards artist Discographies and REDUX work, by way of the original (and private) site. The fore mentioned specialty anthologies as well as my Goodie Grab Bags will be relegated to this private site. Also, I've got complete and 'nearly' complete works piling up and will soon be in a position to compose bio's again. Now, before any former members get too excited, all but a handful of you have recently had your access revoked. The few who remain have shared a lot of music with me over the years and continue to, as such, they will have access for as long as I keep at it. Going forward in the new year I am moving to a pseudo barter system. New and former members may be granted access on a limited (3-6 month) basis if willing and able to fill requests for various 45s/LPs/CDs. I don't have a definitive system in place nor even a well organized list of requests as of yet -- check below comp for starters -- but I'm working on it and know whichever way it shakes out, in terms of value, the scales will surely be tipped in your favor.

I know there's some Kent, Grapevine, Soulscape and other misc compilation CDs that I'm looking for in lossless formats. Those requests will require an EAC or log file of some sorts. With vinyl however, I'm far less concerned with format. Lossless is still preferred but quality of the source and the rip is paramount. All vinyl requests must be complete, audible, unimpeded, and 2-channel rips (stereo always preferred to mono, given the option). And absolutely no third-party recordings will be accepted. Over the coming holidays I'll be making some updates here, a revised application post, and will provide something to encompass scaling as it relates to specific requests.

For now, enjoy the long gestating latest installment of Glucose For Comfort. See you next year ...

=========================================================================

I plan to start posting roughly 2-4 times monthly on the private site, beginning in the new year.
{ie; 2 REDUXs, 1 New Discography, a Grab Bag and/or specialty compilation}

Here's some music that could open the doors for you ...

It's worth noting that I do have some of the sides listed below in varying degrees of quality but I'm hoping for fresh rips of these particular singles. Quite often if only one side is readily available it's either been remastered to death or compressed/distorted to death. YouTube can be a great source for rare soul but is littered with examples of what I'm talking about. Not to mention inaccuracies, DJ's promotional overdubs, and my personal pet peeve ... third-party recordings!

any one of these 45s will earn you a membership of 3 Months:

for those that have inquired ... a third-party recording is not a legit rip. it's when you use a device with a condenser mic (ie; phone, camera, tablet, etc) to record another device's playback through speakers (record player, boombox, radio, etc).

these are third-party recordings:

@Margus

if the tracks meet my criteria you could have up to 9 months access.

@RGMS

please check 'Please Listen' against the youtube versions, as i have those.

@jf

Create a download link and post here please.

@Majicmarty

Possibly you will have some of my CD requests when I post them, which could earn you entry.

@USMAN47

unfortunately these Hannibal tracks are not what I am looking for. I want the 45 versions. Your version of 'Rerun' is from a Goldmine compilation and is probably the same as the 45. Your version of 'Ain't Nobody Perfect' though is from the CD, Who Told You That?, released in 1998. It features new material and re-recordings by Hannibal. the track is also 90 seconds longer than the original 45 version (assuming label image is correct). I am fairly certain this is NOT the right track and will not be satisfied until I hear the actual 45 version. Keep tuned, I have plenty of requests not yet posted.

@Vinny

Your track meets my specifications, thank you. It's only one of the sides though, so that earns you 6 months. Clock starts ticking upon my first post sometime next month. Send your email so I can invite you before then.

@Margus

Roger Hatcher and Lenny Williams tracks are not the 45 versions. None of the Freddie Scott or Margo Thunder tracks meet my criteria...
I Guess God Wants It That Way -{single channel + incomplete + impeded by DJ chatter}-
Deep In The Night (Mono) -{single channel + impeded by system sounds}-
The Great If (Mono) -{single channel + impeded by system sounds}-
Don't You Have Any Love In Your Heart -{inaudible rip from YouTube}-
From Her Arms To Mine -{3rd Party Recording from YouTube}-

these Margo Thunder tracks are straight from (Twilight Zone) Bob's collection. Like much of the stuff from his 'Soul Ladies' collections, they're not good for much more than a point of reference unfortunately.

lastly is Let The Four Winds Blow -{unnecessarily forced to mono}-

I don't understand why ppl do this when ripping vinyl. The 7" and 12" singles are both in stereo, the only known compilation featuring the track is also in stereo, so why a flat mono rip!!!??? ughhh.

That said, it does meet the criteria stated above and I certainly appreciate the effort so that earns you 3 months. Clock starts ticking upon my first post sometime next month. Send your email so I can invite you before then.

@RGMS

thank you, finally a real rip of Pleases Listen! That earns you 6 months. Clock starts ticking upon my first post sometime next month. Send your email so I can invite you before then.

@Margus

Unfortunately your additional Freddie Scott tracks don't dent the list. Vinny beat you to the early track with a much cleaner version and that's the same 3rd party recording of 'Please Listen' from YouTube

@Little Bill

No luck. I am 100% sure that track is from my previous Hannibal collection and 99.9% sure it's incorrectly tagged. It is from the fore mentioned 1998 CD.
